Fete Chinoise, Dreams Take Flight @ Royal York Hotel, Toronto – Sat. Feb. 3, 2020
by Sally Warburton
In its 5th year, the Annual Fête Chinoise – a black tie cocktail – honours Chinese culture. The Royal York Hotel venue beautifully decorated with food stations both savoury and sweet was amazing. All delicious. Making the hard decision “Where do I start?” was the challenge!! Beautiful dresses, beautiful people of all ages enjoyed the Chinese cultural evening. The extensive Silent Auction proceeds supported the Creative Arts Therapy Program at Sick Kids Hospital.
While sampling food and drink and enjoying time with friends, guests were treated to a brightly lit Lion Dance by Wushu Project and music by Michael Coombs DJ. Master of Ceremonies was Melissa Leong. Performances by violinist Yi-Jia Susanne Hou, Pianist Xie Jiayu, Ginny Kuang with Parliament Band. Special guest was actress Selena Lee. The skilled tailor fashion exhibit of the Sung family with Alfred Sung director of 2019 documentary film The Last Stitch was fascinating.
Air Canada booth’s flight attendants were giving 2020 fortunes based on wooden bamboo numbers. The Door Prize draw was awaited with anticipation with prizes from Air Canada and Porsche Centre Downtown Toronto.
Just a fantastic event, a beautiful event and an evening not to forget.
