About Jennifer Callahan
Jennifer Callahan is a documentary filmmaker engaging with stories which go against the grain. Her first feature documentary, THE BUNGALOWS OF ROCKAWAY (2010), chronicles 100 years of the epic lives of New York City’s largest beach community and foregrounds urbanism, architectural history, and race/ethnicity. EVERYTHING IS DIFFERENT NOW (2015) illustrates the impact of Superstorm Sandy on Rockaway and the surprising recovery taken by residents. In her new short film MAKING THE CASE (2020), a renowned mind directs her gaze on select mundane belongings.
About Kirsten Johnson
Kirsten Johnson’s DICK JOHNSON IS DEAD premiered at this year’s 2020 Sundance and won the Jury Prize for Innovation in Nonfiction Storytelling. The film has won the Critic’s Choice Award for Best Documentary and Best Director. Her previous film, CAMERAPERSON, named New York Times ‘Top Ten Films of 2016’ was shortlisted for the Academy Award. Her short, THE ABOVE was nominated for the IDA’s ‘Best Short Award’ for 2016. Her camerawork appears in Academy Award winner CITIZEN FOUR, Academy nominated THE INVISIBLE WAR, and Cannes Winner FAHRENHEIT 9/11. She is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers and one of its only 5% of women.
