DAN HILL – ‘ON THE OTHER SIDE OF HERE’TO BE RELEASED WORLD-WIDE – FEBRUARY 12, 2021ON SUN AND SKY RECORDS DISTRIBUTED BY WARNER MUSIC/ADA
Dan Hill recently completed a 16-song album, ‘ON THE OTHER SIDE OF HERE’, to be released worldwide on February 12, 2021 on Sun and Sky Records, distributed by Warner Music/ ADA. This is his first album in eleven years. It is filled with a collection of intensely personal song stories for which Dan is known and excels. This album features the plaintive, evocative and heartfelt single/lyric video, ‘What About Black Lives?’. Released last November ‘What About Black Lives?’ garnered excellent media and public response. The songs on this new album are intensely personal and Dan’s voice is as strong as ever. Over his 40+year career Dan has achieved huge success as a singer/songwriter. Grammy nominated for Best Male Vocal, Grammy winner as co-producer of “Seduces Me” (on Celine Dion’s 30 plus million selling ‘Falling Into You’ album), winner of five Juno Awards and recipient of the Harold Moon Award (Canadian Lifetime Achievement Award). Dan has recorded and released multiple gold and platinum selling albums. 2021 Dan receives another hugely meaningful award: the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame (CSHF) proudly announced the induction of Dan Hill as one of Canada’s most successful songwriters. On Wednesday, February 10 Dan will formally be inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame’s permanent home in the National Music Centre in Calgary, featuring interactive exhibits and memorabilia dedicated to Canada’s greatest songwriters and songs in a virtual presentation on CTV’sYour Morning. During the ceremony Dan will be performing some of his defining songs in an exclusive live performance. Vanessa Thomas, Executive Director of the CSHF remarks, “Dan’s songs are authentic and intimate, whether he is singing about love or social injustice. He may have a soft-spoken voice and sing to soft rock melodies, but his lyrics resonate as loudly and powerfully as if he were shouting it from the mountains. That is the gift that Dan has as an artist and songwriter.” Dan responds, “I am both thrilled and humbled to be inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.To now be in this esteemed hall of fame alongside my songwriting heroes, the writers who were my de-facto college education, whom I studied, indeed inhaled, song after song, album after album, is a huge honour for me. I feel enormous gratitude to be recognized, alongside my teachers, my mentors.” We have just received word that a recent taped interview with Dan Hill will run this Sunday, February 7on The National . The show is broadcast at 9PM ET on CBC NewsNetwork and 10PM ET on the CBC Main Network.
