U.S. Premiere at Palm Springs Shortsfest
Montreal, Friday, June 25, 2021 – Travelling and the Coop Vidéo de Montréal are thrilled to announce the U.S. Premiere of the film The Walk, written, directed and produced by multidisciplinary artist Yoakim Bélanger. This animated short film, entirely painted by hand with Chinese ink and pencils, six images per second, required five years of creation. It shows women of all ages coming out of the shadows and walking together towards a light source.
A striking tribute to the feminist movement and female strength, it will screen during the 27th edition of Palm Springs Shortsfest, a prestigious California-based short film festival, taking place until June 28.
The Walk had its world premiere at the Encounters Int. Short and Animation Film Festival in Bristol (UK), before being presented at the Mecal Int. Short Film Festival in Barcelona, where it won the Grand Prize for Best Short Film of the Oblique Competition, which includes all the atypical animated films. It also screened in Quebec at the Festival du nouveau cinéma in Montréal and Festival REGARD in Saguenay. The Walk will be shown in New Zealand in early July during the Show Me Shorts festival.
