A quick single note to let you know about this delightful and silly “synchronized standing” video for a new single off of a new collaborative album on Halifax-based Backward Music label by Senior Citizen & Tim Walker. It’s an extremely catchy and high energy song about the guilt ensuing after someone caught COVID-19…no, really. It’s out today, would love to have you consider covering it now or next week.Quote about the track: My cousin got Covid. She was the closest person to me that actually got it. Her two kids caught it from her. She was out with friends to dinner one night, following all of the proper protocols, and was exposed to it by someone who was not. Despite this, the guilt she and her family felt and the shame from some in their community (both real and perceived) was hard on them. The song is not specifically about her but her situation certainly provided its genesis. Hope you enjoy the single + LP preorder!

ABOUT THE ALBUM
Senior Citizen, the electronic project of Fredericton-based producer/percussionist, Bob Deveau, is today announcing a collaboration record with Tim Walker (Grand Theft Bus, Heat & Lights) titled What Was That which is set for release on December 3, 2021, via Backward Music, the sister label to Forward Music Group. Today, the duo is announcing the album in line with the first single/video, “Tell Me When It’s Safe,” a wonderful fusion of electronica and indie which arrives with an accompanying video that will be submitted to the IOC for Synchronized Standing Championships.

Deveau, is best known for his slick and downright masterful drumming with artists such as The Olympic SymphoniumGrand Theft Bus, and Force Fields while also moonlighting as an equally skilled electronic music producer. Tim Walker is a singer-songwriter who has captured the hearts of many in the Canadian indie music scene as the principal songwriter of Grand Theft Bus and with his Heat & Lights project.

This new album and first single,  “Tell Me When It’s Safe” is not simply the overlapping portion of some musical Venn diagram. Even those already familiar with their individual works are in for something refreshing because Senior Citizen x Tim Walker is one of those delicious musical collaborations where the whole is so much greater than the sum of its parts.

Speaking about this new single, Walker says: “My cousin got Covid. The song is not specifically about her but her situation certainly provided its genesis.”

Senior Citizen acts as Deveau’s alter-ego for his electronic music which he has been releasing for over a decade now. The debut album from the Senior Citizen project, The Hawk (2016), was also a collaborative and distanced effort, with Deveau recording and programming drums from his childhood home in Port Hawkesbury, Cape Breton (hence, The Hawk) and sending the songs to various friends/collaborators for further instrumentation and vocals.

Initially, Deveau dove into producing this record not thinking it would become the long-awaited second installment of his collaborative electronic music project, Senior Citizen. However, global pandemics have a knack for steering even the best-laid plans off course. Deveau found himself in the midst of one of the most creative surges of his life just as the world was shutting down. Luckily for him, Walker found himself in a similar position: a veteran composer yearning for a creative outlet. With the stars aligned just so, the two entered into such a free-flowing and effortless collaboration that, when the dust settled, Deveau and Walker found themselves bemusedly wondering: “What was that?”
