Juno Award winning DRU at The Salvation Army’s Christmas at The Distillery District
By Sally Warburton
As luck would have it, Thursday, December 16 was a beautiful evening in Toronto. A mild winter evening to stand and watch the performers of The Salvation Army’s Annual Christmas concert. This year during The Distillery Winter Market. The stage area was set up in a sheltered pathway of The Distillery District in Toronto. The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle by the Stage area was huge! The giant Kettle was even bigger than the one in New York City! These replicate the Salvation Army fundraising kettles.
The evening featured Canadian R&B Award Winning Singer Songwriter, DRU Grange. The evening performers included The Salvation Army Brass Band, Shimonov Brothers with violinist Kristian Gusho. Dancers Luka and Jenalyn gave a few of their unique dance moves. The young music performers from Star School Academy gave individual and group performances wowing the audience with their young talent! One of the main highlights of the evening was Juno Award winning, Certified Gold selling, International R&B artist DRU. Singer DRU Grange graced us with two wonderful songs. DRU was joined by Katie Pivovar to sing the song A Winter Miracle which is part of the Christmas exhibit The Immersive Nutcracker.
DRU’s presence on stage created the R&B vibe for the evening and proved to us he is an award winning singer. The audience, wearing masks, and passers by at the Distillery enjoyed every minute of his performance and the others. It was a beautiful evening. Perfect for an outdoor event. Free hot chocolate and holiday treats were available. It was a time to come together, with masks, to celebrate the Christmas Season.
DRU’s music is available on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL.
