In the Eye of the Storm is a six-part documentary series about one of the foremost intellectuals and political figures of our age, whose explosive memoir Adults in the Room was named by The Guardian as one of the top 100 most important books of the 21st Century. The show follows the disintegration of the EU, debt, and austerity, the Rise of Donald Trump, Attacks on Democracy, the Spectre of Fascism, the Crisis of Capitalism, and the Climate Challenge.
In The Eye Of The Storm begins with a first-hand account of Varoufakis’ dramatic battle with the European establishment, but goes much further to weave a gripping political narrative about the fate of our civilization: where we are, how we got here, and where we must go. We see up close, through Varoufakis’ unique story, how power works at the highest levels, entering a world so often shrouded in secrecy.
The series joins the dots between the disintegration of the European Union, debt

Yanis Varoufakis famously resigned from the Greek government in July 2015 rather than sign what he viewed as a fraudulent bail-out deal for an impoverished Greece – the first and only finance minister to defy the European establishment. During his struggle to resolve the debt crisis in the most bankrupt nation in Europe, he befriended and battled Emmanuel Macron, Christine Lagarde, Wolfgang Schäuble, Bernie Sanders, Angela Merkel, and Barack Obama.
Since his clashes with some of the mightiest institutions on the planet, Varoufakis – celebrated by some, vilified by others – is now one of the most recognizable political figures in the western world, with over a million Twitter followers and many best-selling books to his name. Yanis is a member of the Greek Parliament, is the former Finance Minister of Greece, and Founder of The Progressive International with US Senator Bernie Sanders.
