Not one. Not two. But three sold out nights of concerts! Steve Hackett and his band filled the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts on November 30, December 1st and 2nd. Hackett fans knew it would be well worth the extra wait for the rescheduled concerts. And they were definitely right. The Steve Hacket concert entitled Genesis Revisited for Canada and USA 2022 included the best loved song of Genesis fans.
The concert venue is less than an hour’s drive from Toronto. The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts is a cozy, warm venue with not a bad seat in the house. Everyone has a good view.
Steve Hackett’s five piece band features Roger King on keyboard, Craig Blundell on drums, Jonas Reingold on bass guitar and vocals, Rob Townsend on sax, flutes, keyboards and percussion and Nad Sylvan with his magnificent vocals and presence.
The 17 song concert was divided by a half hour intermission – time for fans to grab a drink, chat to other Hackett fans, buy merch and look forward to the longer second set. Excellent merch table – with pre-signed CD/ Blue ray sets. Unique Hackett concert t-shirts with song setlist written on the back.
Among the 17 songs were Supper’s Ready from Foxtrot – Genesis’ 4th Studio Album celebrating its 50th anniversary this year! Selling England by the Pound’s The Cinema Show, Firth of Fifth and Aisle of Plenty and for encores Trick of the Tail’s Dance on a Volcano and Los Endos. An awesome mix of prog- rock.
It was a beautiful concert. The lighting, the sound, watching the group, feeling honoured to see Hackett play his guitar with his mischievous grin, fascinated by Nad Sylvan’s voice and stage presence. Add to all that a brilliant small venue with friendly and helpful staff at Oakville Centre made every Steve Hackett fan enjoy their evening of music even more. A concert not to miss!
