Country music is alive and well in Toronto! And the proof was Friday night at History music venue on Queen Street East when The Reklaws made their stop on their Canada-wide tour. Sold out concert! Ontario born Brother and sister duo Jenna and Stuart Walker are well known for their song “Long Live the Night” national theme song for CFL 2018/2019 season.

The most streamed Canadian song of all Canadian country singers. Winners of the CCMA 2019 Album of the Year “Feels Like That” which certified Platinum in Canada. With 5 JUNO nominations and many other awards including Platinum and Gold singles The Reklaws have been part of Canada’s Country music scene since 2019.

History was filled with fans Friday, January 27.  Big time fans with their cowboy hats. Country fans who knew the lyrics to every song. And who all sang along with The Reklaws. Awesome atmosphere.

Having fun with their audience and integrating the theme of their drinking songs, The Reklaws handed out cans of beer using very long fishing rods with plastic pails holding a can of beer. A few concert-goers were the lucky recipients!  Lit up Beach balls that changed colour were tossed into the crowd to add more excitement and fun to the already happy country music crowd. Jenna and Stuart took time between songs to sign t-shirts and other memorabilia for a few very lucky fans!  Fans just loved hearing The Reklaws’ song “Can’t Help Myself” released with country music singer Dean Brody after their tour with Brody in 2019.  The crowd loved their songs “Where I’m from”, “What the Truck” and “11 Beers” –  All well known from TikTok and social media.

“Some people don’t want to talk about it…” speaking to the crowd near the end, Stuart shared the well-known news of their mother’s passing to mental health last year. He sincerely thanked the fans for helping them get through this past year. The song Godspeed followed –  a quieter, reflective song.

Oh, and where does the name Reklaws come from?  Jenna and Stuart’s last name is Walker – backwards is Reklaw + s !  Aha!

Opening for The Reklaws was Griffen Palmer with his new single “Second Guessing”. He’s a fantastic up and coming artist!  Next was Ashlee Cooke… just arrived from Florida and her first time in Canada! She brought the sunshine with her! They both heated up the venue with their songs and inspiration. Perfect artists to open up for The Reklaws.

HISTORY venue was a happy place Friday night. The Country music fans were happy. Very happy. And justifiably so…The Reklaws gave an awesome concert. Catch them on their tour!

We would like to thank Richelle Umali, Penelope PR and Live Nation for the invitation to this concert.
