Peacebuilders Fundraiser Gala@The Globe And Mail-Thurs., May 4, 2023

Peacebuilders Fundraiser event took place Thursday, May 4 at the Globe & Mail Centre on King Street East in Toronto. It was wonderful to have The Spring for Peace 2023 gala back to an in-person event. The Spring for Peace Gala has continued to be an important event for 20 years. Peacebuilders is an organization which raises awareness of the need for restorative justice for youth and to help fund innovative youth initiatives. Peacebuilders is proud to be celebrating its 20th year by not only looking back but moving forward! Attendees were invited to share in celebrating the achievements and to create a path forward for the next 20 years!
The evening gala was perfectly set on the 16th floor of the Globe & Mail Centre. A beautiful view of downtown Toronto – the CN Tower, Lake Ontario, the buildings surrounding the downtown core. Guests could go out onto the expansive balcony or view the scenery from the 16th floor windows.
Delicious food was served by wait staff to the guests and was offered at the many food stations – pasta, dumplings, fish or beef mini burritos – all scrumptious! The food catering was generously provided by The Food Dudes.
Drinks – wine, beer and cocktails were available at the two extensive bars. Wine sampling with Sommelier and Wine Critic Sara d’Amato included an exclusive tasting of a curated selection of fine wines. There was an extensive selection of auction items to bid on. The online silent auction was hosted online by Givergy.com The bidding continued until May 4th at 10pm. In addition there was an Online Fine Wine Auction with emphasis that many of the wines offered will appreciate in value, especially rare and acclaimed vintages. Good to know!
Entertainment was provided by a guitarist with a beautiful background setting of the Toronto skyline and CN Tower. Later a steelband of youth entertained guests with their soothing music.
Heather Wright, correspondent for CTV National News, was the MC for the evening. She shared the beliefs of the Peacebuilders Program. ”Peacebuilders do what they do so well: make positive changes in our justice, child welfare, and education systems.”
