Stephen Curry:Underrated-Hot Docs @TIFF BellLightbox

What hasn’t superstar guard Stephen Curry done in his illustrious career in basketball? In his 15th year with the same team that drafted him, he is a  four-time NBA champion, an NBA final MVP, two time MVP in the league and probably the most dominant three-point scorer in the NBA.

This documentary switches between stories of Curry’s earlier years at Charlotte Christian School, Davidson College and the 2022 NBA season. Stephen Curry: Underrated provides the story of Curry, his family, his teammates and his college coach Robert “Bob” McKillop  to help narrate the story of one of the most prolific players ever to hit the  basketball court. Curry’s road to the NBA included trials, tribulations,
discipline and perseverance in an attempt to rise up against all those who overlooked his abilities.  He wasn’t the biggest, fastest or the most talented in college, but  Steph’s mother and father, Sonya and Dell Curry told stories about his younger days when he was skinnier than many other players. Curry  knew he could shoot, which would be his advantage over people bigger than him. It wasn’t always a prosperous time – there were times when he doubted himself to figure out his shooting skills after being overlooked as a prospect who could make it as a pro.During his time at Davidson College, he evolved as a player and left college early during his junior year to be eligible to be drafted in the NBA. The Golden State Warriors selected him in the first Round with Pick# 7th overall and the rest was history, and with his “never give up attitude,”his pursuit of finishing his college degree and maintaining a family all came together. Underrated and some unfinished business for Steph Curry, as he is in pursuit of his 5th NBA championship.
