We started the first day with the unveiling of the trophies at the Angus Glen golf course with some of the drivers were on site to meet and greet fans.A nice day in Markham to start the weekend off for the inaugural Honda Indy.

Markham hosted Canada’s lone IndyCar race for the first time, relocating from Toronto’s Exhibition Place after a 38-year run. Incomplete track construction forced officials to cancel Friday’s opening practice and qualifying sessions over safety concerns.

The delay compressed the entire schedule. IndyCar squeezed all practice runs and qualifying into Saturday. Support series—including USF2000, USF Pro 2000, Radical Cup Canada, and NASCAR Canada—scrambled to fit abbreviated sessions into a frantic weekend.

On race day, chaos reigned. Six caution periods slowed the pace, four cars retired from contact, and 11 of 25 starters failed to reach the finish line.
Marcus Ericsson navigated the wreckage to win the inaugural Ontario Honda Dealers Indy. Following a mid-race brush with teammate Will Power, Ericsson executed the decisive pass on Romain Grosjean with four laps remaining. The maneuver earned the Swedish driver his fifth career IndyCar victory.

Organizers acknowledged the debut’s heavy growing pains and anticipate a refined operation next season. Markham’s multi-year contract guarantees the event’s return through 2027.
