This October, we’re transforming the Bloor/Gladstone Library into an after-hours #PartyInTheStacks where guests will let their imaginations run wild.
Paying homage to Canada, the night’s theme celebrates the beautiful landscapes we call home.

Date: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2017
Time: 9:00 PM — TILL LATE

Funds raised at Hush Hush support important digital innovation programs and services at TPL, ensuring all Torontonians have equal access to cutting edge technology.

Hush Hush was launched in 2013 by New Collection, a collective of young professionals who support Toronto Public Library. Since its inception, Hush Hush has raised $240,000 for the world’s busiest urban public library and the party celebrates its fifth anniversary in 2017.

Tickets include open bar, delicious eats, great music, a $15 UBER credit (current and new users) and a night of interactive experiences.

In 2016, killer music laid down by DJ Barbi was the soundtrack for a night of experiences. Guests who wanted a bit more edge to their style got an airbrush tattoo and then could show off their look at the 360° selfie station or the Toronto Life GIF booth. There was a steady line-up for the cartoonist, but no one seemed to mind as free drinks and delicious nibbles were always within reach. For those who wanted a dose of virtual reality, staff from Toronto Public Library had three super high-tech adventures.

New Collection is your all-access pass to events that bring together the culturally curious with prominent writers, artists and intellectuals. New Collection members are young Torontonians (ages 19 – 45) who get exclusive access to the city’s vibrant literary scene.

Why join?

  • Access to exclusive New Collection events throughout the year
  • Behind-the-scenes tours of the library’s special collections
  • Reserve tickets to special lectures at the Bram & Bluma Appel Salon
  • Receive a charitable tax receipt for a portion of your membership
  • Discounted tickets to Hush Hush, New Collection’s annual party at the Bloor/Gladstone branch
  • Need another reason to join? Check us out in the Toronto Star

A portion of New Collection funding is directed to the Toronto Public Library’s Young Voices program that encourages creative expression in Toronto’s youth. The program includes the annual Young Voices Magazine of Teen Writing and Art, a full-day offering of writing workshops at the annual Young Voices Writers’ Conference and a Young Voices Electronic Writer in Residence. Young Voices allow youth to connect with adult experts in the arts, increase their literary and artistic skills and learn about potential career paths.
